Where is Houston's Chinatown area located and what neighborhoods are nearby?I will be moving to Houston in about 8 months from Shanghai, China and have heard great things about Houston's Chinatown area. Does anyone know where it is located and what neighborhoods are nearby? I will feel a lot more comfortable living in the US if I can still be around Chinese people (and Chinese restaturants).

Old Chinatown is located in downtown Houston near the George R. Brown Convention Center. This is where the original Chinese immigrants settled in the early 1900's. There are several well known Asian restaurants there. New Chinatown is located west of Bellaire in the Alief neighborhood. New Chinatown is more of a mixture of Chinese, Vietnamese and Chinese Mexicans. You can find the convention center and neighborhoods of Bellaire and Alief on a city map of Houston. |
