Houston Texas Real Estate Blog > Light rail could connect Galleria with downtown and medical centerLight rail could connect Galleria with downtown and medical centerContributed by HTRE Admin on September 23, 2007 At Metro's August 27th hearing, most of the chatter was around adding a Richmond or Westpark light rail line, but according the Houston Chronicle, there were also talk about bypassing these popular locations for a line from Westheimer. The main argument is that this route could reach Westpark, and given the popular nightlife in the Westheimer Galleria area, it could reduce weekend traffic. Connecting Westheimer to downtown could also be very popular amongst the various affluent suburbs in the area which currently have to deal with a nasty commute. Regardless of where the next line is placed, the city of Houston must continue to do its best to address growing concerns around congestion. With I-10 under construction for the next several years, public transportation might be the best way to combat falling homes sales. Comments:No comments have been submitted yet.
