About Bellaire

View Bellaire home listings...

Nine miles southwest of downtown Houston, Bellaire has experienced tremendous growth over the past few years. Completely separate from the city of Houston with its own Mayor, City Council, and Police Department, Bellaire gives its residents a small town feel right in the heart of the big city. Known as the city homes, Bellaire has become extremely popular amongst families looking for a quiet place with the conveniences of the city.

Most of the real estate in the Bellaire suburb tends to be single family homes built in the 1960’s and 1970’s, but those smaller homes are quickly being torn down for large Georgian brick and Mediterranean stucco mansions. While the majority of buyers in the Bellaire market are purchasing their first home, starter homes are becoming harder and harder to find, and some people are forced to spend more than they had originally intended. With housing prices up almost 20% from last year, Bellaire should continue to be a consistent and strong real estate market for years to come.

Commute

Residents in the Bellaire area should expect to spend about 20 minutes getting to and from downtown each day. While the Bellaire to downtown Houston commute isn't bad, some residents opt to take the METRO bus instead.

Schools

School District: Houston Independent School District

Schools: Located within the Houston Independent School District, students will attend either Horn Academeny or Condit for elementary, Pershing or Pin Oak Middle School, and Bellaire High School. Bellaire High School is well known for its baseball teams as well as for prodcing numerous national merit finalists each year. Private schools in the Bellaire area include:

  • Bellaire Christian Academy
  • Episcopal High School
  • Faith Lutheran Day School
