The Downtown Houston district has been completely revamped, and is now a vibrant neighborhood with more than 4,000 residents. Over the past decade, more than 4 billion dollars have been invested in the area, and as a result, the downtown area is booming with development. Over 150 restaurants and clubs have opened since 1997, and the historic district has become one of Houston’s most popular nightlife destinations. Houston has also moved many of its professional sporting arenas downtown including the Rocket’s Toyota Center and the Astros Minute Maid Park. Additionally, the downtown Houston theatre district is ranked second behind only New York in number of seats and several lives music venues like the Verizon Wireless Theatre have been built to host concerts.

Most of the real estate in Downtown Houston are urban lofts and condos converted from old historic buildings. These newly developed urban high-rises combine history and character with luxury and the convenience of living in Houston’s largest business district. Most of the buildings in downtown are connected by an underground tunnel system full of shops, restaurants, bars, so residents that residents can about their daily lives without having to deal with the dreaded summer heat. Should a resident decide to leave downtown, The METRORail light rail which was constructed a few years ago connects downtown Houston with the Texas Medical Center, the University of Houston, the Texan’s Reliant Stadium, and the Museum District.

Although Houston's downtown in still being renovated, the area can be compared with Uptown in Dallas which is a favorite amongst young professionals.



Commute

The beauty behind living in Dowtown is that you can literally walk to work, the various bars and clubs, and if you need to leave the area, the METRORail can take you to most of the city's hotspots. Unlike the Houston suburbs, living in Downtown means you are in the middle of the action and won't have to spend much money on gas.
